Opportunities in BIC
We live in an interdisciplinary world; your education should be too!
In the BIC we embrace opportunities and challenge students to be active members of our community and the entire world.
Leadership
Few programs at Baylor have as many leadership opportunities as the BIC. The BIC Leadership Council, Peer Instructors, Examined Life Mentors, and Research Assistants are opportunities for students to support and shape the BIC community through both academics and leadership from their freshman year until graduation.
Excursions
In addition to learning from fellow students and alumni, the BIC believes in learning from the world around us. It is because of this goal that the BIC has created four excursions built into the World Cultures Curriculum to help students be active learners. These trips take students to religious and cultural sites in Temple, Fort Worth, and Dallas to learn directly from people at these locations. Most of the trips are taken freshman and sophomore years. This is one of the only academic programs that has field trips built into the course curriculum. BICers love these trips because it gives them a chance be hands-on and learn outside the classroom. Connect with Alumni
The BIC community is not just made up of current students. Whether it is through our yearly homecoming speaker or our alumni interview initiatives, students can connect with and learn from a diverse group of alumni in a variety of ways. Beyond the BIC, hosted by the BIC Leadership Council, is the BIC initiative to connect current students with BIC alumni. The depth of how we connect current students with alumni provides BICers with unique opportunities that others may not have access to.
Study Abroad
Furthermore, the BIC whole-heartedly supports its students in studying abroad. In addition to helping its students go on any one of Baylor's fantastic study abroad trips, the BIC itself offers several classes through Baylor in Greece, Baylor in Italy, and Baylor at Saint Andrews in Scotland.
Honors Residential College
Finally, as an Honors College student, you also have the opportunity to live in the Honors Residential College (HRC). This unique residential college provides a living experience that fosters community, discovery, and opportunities for personal growth with fellow Honors College peers. For more information about important housing dates and housing options in the HRC, please follow the link below. If you have any questions, please contact HRC@baylor.edu
