Why BIC?

Choose the BIC because you believe education should expand your mind, challenge your assumptions, and transform your future. Choose the BIC because you’re ready to see the world differently— and leave your mark on it.

The Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) in the Honors College is for students who crave more than a traditional education. It’s for those who want to challenge themselves, explore diverse perspectives, and discover how ideas connect across disciplines and their major. At BIC, you’ll find more than just classes— you’ll find a community, a purpose, and a path to becoming the person you’re meant to be.

Here, learning is an adventure. You’ll read the original works of history’s greatest thinkers, tackle complex questions, and apply your insights to real-world challenges. Small group discussions and experiential learning trips bring the classroom to life, while team-taught courses offer a wealth of perspectives you won’t find anywhere else.

The BIC is about more than preparing you for a career— it’s about preparing you for life. It’s about equipping you to think critically, act compassionately, and lead courageously. Whether your future lies in science, business, the arts, or something you’ve yet to discover, the BIC gives you the tools and confidence to thrive.

“

In law school, you learn that sometimes the answer itself is not as important as the steps you take to get there. With law, it's more about how you thought it through and how you can defend your position using arguments. Nothing prepared me more for that type of thinking than the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.
